About Us

History:

Los Puentes Charter School was founded in 2002.  LPCS was the vision of Nancy Jo Archer, CEO of Hogares, Inc.  She saw the need for a supportive mental/emotional/behavioral educational setting for youth experiencing difficulty with the traditional school setting, and were are are high risk.  A committee comprised of educators, mental health professionals, and community volunteers worked for a year to assure that Los Puentes would be a dynamic and effective charter school.

Upon receiving designation as an APS approved-authorized charter school, the committee became the Governing Council when the school opened August of 2002.  Los Puentes has been located at several temporary sights until 2010 when it moved to its present location at the corner of 4th St. NW and Headingly Ave. in the North Valley of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The vision for the original committee was to have an innovative, supportive mental/emotional/behavioral education setting for youth that would enable them to have a successful educational experience and ultimately graduate from high school and a successful future.

What We aim to foster:

Opportunities for success through identification and development of students’ individual strengths, creativity and abilities.

Shared humor as an effective teaching and learning tool and where high expectations will create a high level of achievement.

"There is no way I could have graduated and changed my life without this school. I was going down the wrong road and when I needed it the most Los Puentes had the most supportive staff and students I would have ever met."
